Coming this Autumn 2006: The Ascent Coach licensing program. Become a licensed Ascent Coach and run your own unique adventure coaching experiences.
Available both to independent coaches and mountain leaders and also to corporate HR/D departments to run Ascent experiences with their own teams.
There is also a simple referral scheme if you want to use Ascent in your work but don't want to become fully licensed to run it yourself.
Ascent is truly tapping into
something special; a compelling need for people to find more meaning in and to
have more control over their lives.
There is nothing else in the world like Ascent,
combining the natural environment with personal exploration in a way that leads
to such a degree of congruence and personal leadership. As a result of Ascent,
people have literally changed their lives and pursued their lifelong dreams.
Do you want to be a part of the adventure?
You might be a coach or development professional
who is looking for a way to add excitement and adventure to your work
You might be a coach or development
professional who has been looking to combine your love of the outdoors with your
love of developing people
You might be new to coaching and you're looking
for a more exciting career than 'life coaching' because you don't want to sit
at home and coach, you want your new career to be a life changing adventure for
you as well as for your clients
You might have a lot of outdoor activity
experience and you're looking for something new to bring to the group work you're
doing, perhaps to really delve deeper and bring out meaningful and lasting results
in the people you work with
You might be working within a company and
you're looking for something new and exciting to bring to your team building
events.
And of course, you might have other reasons
for wanting to become an Ascent Adventure Coach!

Ascent helped me discover a path I had neglected,
ignored and was trying hard not to see. The mountain is a great teacher, helped
by the guides who have been blessed by great insight. Ascent opened me up to
a 'most excellent adventure'. David Nicoll
The licensing program does not include Mountain Leader or First Aid training, because you may or may not choose to run your own Ascent programs in the mountain/outdoor environment. If you do want to run Ascent outdoors, we can help you to source the other technical training that you may need. We would not advise you to run Ascent in mountain regions if you are unfamiliar with the area. Alternatively, a licensed Ascent coach may choose to partner with a Mountain Leader to run Ascent experiences.

With the Ascent Adventure Coach program, you choose
the location and the format for you to run your own Ascent experiences. The Ascent
process is proven to transform people's lives, and the environment is vital in
bringing about that transformation, so it's important that you choose an inspiring
location for your own experiences.
Ascent doesn't depend on the mountain, you can use any physical
metaphor. Caves, lakes, boats, scuba diving, skiing, flying, parachuting and
almost any activity can be used as the canvass for an Ascent experience.
At a point in the hero's journey, a guide
appears to help the hero through the darkest night of his path to enlightenment.
The guide takes many forms; the gas station attendant in 'Way of the Peaceful
Warrior', the Oracle in the Matrix, the King and the Alchemist in Paulo Coelho's
'The Alchemist', Yoda in 'Star Wars' and of course the Ascent coach during the
Ascent Experience.

"It was a fantastic journey
and now I've had a day to reflect, am amused and deeply satisfied
that I came back with results different from what I expected but
so much bigger, better, deeper than I could have possibly imagined" Will Izzard

The Ascent experience
It is very important that, before you can guide other people through the Ascent journey, you experience Ascent yourself as a fully immersed participant, working on your own goals and achieving the personal alignment and balance that is fundamental to your role as an Ascent coach. |
| January 2007 |
Coaching Fundamentals - 9 days (3 x 3 days)
In this set of three modules, you will learn an extremely powerful set of coaching and personal change tools. These will take you beyond any typical coaching course to a level of skill where you can get to the root of an issue quickly and use specific change techniques to bring about transformational change as part of the Ascent journey.
You will receive a number of books and also a recommended viewing list to help you understand and interpret the role of the guide in the hero's journey.
The location for this will be a residential retreat. |
| February 2007 |
Ascent Coaching - 3 days
In order to fully create the Ascent Experience, you will need to understand the significance and role of the hero's journey, and the way that this journey manifests itself in our lives. Ascent uses a number of unique coaching tools that you need to become very comfortable in using to ensure consistent results for your guests.
You will also learn about the outdoor and physical aspects of Ascent, and what you need to do to ensure the safety of your guests.
The location for this will be a residential retreat. |
| March 2007 |
Adventure Coaching - 3 days
We will run through a full Ascent experience with you able to participate, observe and ask the questions that you need to ask. This is a unique approach as we travel the Ascent journey together, stopping along the way to explore the nature of the journey itself. You will gain an unprecedented insight into the running of Ascent so that you can gain the confidence you need as quickly as you want to. You will also see the behind the scenes work that you need to do to run Ascent.
The location for this will be on the mountain. |
| |
Continuous Assessment - during each module
At the end of each module, you will be given a personal assessment with objective feedback against the Ascent coaching criteria and specific recommendations to develop your skills further. This highly personalised approach enables you to fully achieve your potential, and enables us to maintain the high quality of Ascent which benefits you as a potential licensee. |
| |
Coach Assessment - During your first Ascent Experience
Ascent is a unique experience, and our interest is not in creating the maximum number of licencees but the highest quality. Therefore, the end of the training program has an individual assessment that tests your ability to put this into practice and get results for your clients. |
| 18th November 2006 |
Annual Retreat and Conference
Our annual conference brings together the Ascent family to share experiences, develop ideas and evolve Ascent into something that we can all continue to be proud of. |
